Clarity in Chaos

Inspiration for Interior Design Styling

In September 2018, my life changed drastically and I found myself taking a leap of faith (in the form of a plane ticket) to travel across the Atlantic, to a city I had only dreamed of for the past eight years. Six months later, Bleu Bee Designs entered the world, on a cloudy and unseasonably cold day of March 3, 2019 in the beautiful Place Republique neighborhood in the triangle of the 3rd, 10th, and 11th arrondissements of Paris.

While wandering the cozy streets off of Rue Beaurepaire (where I was staying), I found myself on Rue Yves Toudic, where I was stopped in my steps at the magnificently hued boulangerie of Du Pain et des Idees (translation: The Bread and the Ideas). The boldness of the colors; gold, black and french “bleu” spoke to my soul. The oil fresco paintings flanking the doorway, the pairing of the fonts used in their signage, the iconic Parisian textured metal tables and woven chairs.

The inspiration for interior design + styling

I just knew, in that very moment, that I was meant to share my passion for design (a very general term) with all who would desire beautiful things in their life and home. I stood taking in this boulangerie (bakery) for at least ten minutes, admittedly looking a bit like a touriste’! Here I was, 33 years old and 3,400 miles away from anything familiar (home, family, the English language and decent toilet paper) and yet I had such clarity in a completely foreign location. To those who believe, I do fully believe God was speaking to me and telling me to use my gifts to bless others. A year later, Bleu Bee Designs has a more clear direction and niche market, that again, is true to my roots.

To Be Continued

*Full disclosure, I was truly wandering aimlessly, only to stumble upon the famed “Top Rated Boulangerie of Paris” by Gault & Millau  from 2008, 2012, and 2014.
Again, hidden gems discovered!
